Understanding the Client’s Needs
The goal was to create a functional outdoor area that complemented the existing home while improving access and everyday usability.
- Creating a more usable outdoor area
- Choosing a durable, low-maintenance decking material
- Improving access with a practical staircase
- Adding safe and visually open balustrading
- A contemporary finish to elevate overall property appeal
- Ensuring the deck complemented the existing home
How We Got It Done
We designed and constructed the deck to make better use of the front outdoor area while maintaining a strong connection with the existing home.
Planning & Site Preparation
The outdoor area was assessed to determine the appropriate deck height, access points and overall footprint. The site was then prepared for the new structure, with consideration given to levels, support, drainage and the connection between the deck, lawn and existing home.
Structure, Access & Balustrades
The deck structure was built to provide a stable and durable base for the composite decking. A wide staircase creates comfortable access from the lawn, while timber posts and handrails are paired with horizontal cable balustrades to provide safety without visually closing in the outdoor area.
Decking & Finishing Touches
Ekodeck Designer Series in Alpine Ironwood was installed to create a refined, low-maintenance finish with the warmth and character of timber. The tone complements the existing brickwork and darker exterior elements, while timber handrails, cable balustrades and matching fascia boards complete the clean, contemporary appearance.
Delivering the Solution
The finished deck creates a practical outdoor area that feels like a natural extension of the home. The generous platform provides additional usable space, while the wide staircase makes movement between the deck and garden easy and comfortable.
Ekodeck Designer Series in Alpine Ironwood, timber detailing and cable balustrades create a balanced and contemporary finish. The result is a durable, low-maintenance outdoor space designed to improve both the appearance and everyday functionality of the property. Built by our experienced deck builders in Canberra, this Fisher project reflects the same quality and craftsmanship showcased across our wider project gallery.
